This is Julie, she is my friend and colorist of the stars! She has been making people's visions of themselves come to light..or highlight for 22 years.
She also has been listening, listening, listening. Oh, the secrets she must know!!!
Julie happens to be a complete babe herself and not surprisingly has the perfect haircut for her face. Her sense of humour is contagious and for an hour and a half you could almost forget the abuse your VISA is about to take!
Julie's Beauty Secret is clean eating, daily 5:00 am workouts and Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle serum.
I asked Julie for some expert color care advise. Here is what she had to say:
* If you invest in good hair color, treat your hair like a fine washable!
* Yes there is a difference with quality salon shampoos. They are worth it! You don't need to wash everyday. Just a rinse and a dab of conditioner will awaken your hair if you must wet it!
* Your hair is typically thirsty after color and especially in summer time! Condition it accordingly.
* Most definitely use a leave in product for moisture and smoothing if you blow dry and especially if you flat iron . Heat eats out hair color very quickly!
* Have some fun with products! There are some great products out there now that will allow you to give your hair a break from over styling.
Curl cremes for air dried curl ... Surf sprays to add beach like texture to you either wet or dry hair!.. Pomades and waxes for short and sassy styling!!

$$$ Kerastase . Kerastase make specific products for every hair type. Please speak with your stylist or ask at the store for your individual recommendation.
$$ KENRA. My absolute new favorite line. Usually found at salons and ULTA Beauty.
$ L'Oreal. L'Oreal has come out with a fabulous line of products for every hair type. Affordable and fabulous! We love that!

$$$KerastaseMasque Chroma Riche. Fabulosity!
$$Fekkai Technician Color Care Luxe Color Masque. This has been in my shower for years! The Best. A little goes a long way.
$ PanteneDamage Detox Weekly Rehab Creme. OK, this has become an Absolute Must have. You-your wallet and your hair will be so happy!
A Couple of Basic Beauty favorite Styling Products:
$$$ KerastaseElixir Ultime. I call it liquid Gold. Just two pumps and massage into wet hair. It works on every hair type. It can be layered with other products to achieve styling goals. It can also be used on dry hair to the ends to soften texture or help tame fly aways. (It now also comes in specific hair types.)
$$KENRA Platinum Blow Dry Spray. Biggest secret out there. Protects hair against heat and shortens blow dry time! Yippee!
$$Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray. The first company to have a surf spray and still the best.
Julie's new favorite styling tools for each hair type are by Kevin Murphy. They are sold at salons. If you go to his website you can locate a salon that carries them near you. They are all the rage! Julie loves: Un.Dressed, Full.Again, Gritty.Business and I love Easy.Rider. There are mini videos on his site that show you exactly how to use each product. You would be amazed how fabulous your hair can be if you use a product that is perfect for your hair type.
