This is our friend Robyn!  She is a College Freshman.  I couldn’t wait to hear how she was adjusting to college life.  I also knew, that Robyn liked to stroll around CVS searching for the next best thing as much as I do….so I asked her, “What’s the College Beauty Scoop??”

IMG_3157 This is what she wrote:

While college is arguably one of the most fun times in your life, it is also one of the most stressful. The huge transition from living at home and always having someone to take care of you, to suddenly being shoved in a 12’ by 15’ dorm room with a complete stranger and realizing you have four years to figure out what you are doing with the rest of your life is extremely daunting. You spend the majority of your time balancing your schoolwork, social life, and trying to stay healthy by working out and eating correctly. It sounds a lot easier than it actually is, I swear! One of the ways to escape this hectic environment is arguably the only place you can be alone in college, the showers. If you did not spend your time in the shower relaxing and escaping the outside world before coming to college, I guarantee that will change. To help improve your serenity while not breaking the bank I want to share with you what is in my shower caddy!

First we have my favorite shampoo and conditioner by Organix. I tend to mix and match which type I use in particular, but my favorite will always be the Argan Oil of Morocco, I am currently using the teamint conditioner which is another good one! These shampoos are not only light on the wallet, but also the healthiest for your hair. They never leave my hair greasy or frizzy and it always smells amazing!      Screen Shot 2014-03-25 at 7.28.59 AMpurchase here

Next for skin care: for my face I will only exfoliate with the St. Ives facial washes and in terms of body wash I am huge on soap, it is more cost effective than body wash and leaves me feeling much cleaner. Often my grandmother will send me care packages with soaps and snacks but this particular one is from Trader Joes and it is a new favorite of mine! The only razor I will ever use is the Gillette Venus, combined with the Gillette Satin Care for Sensitive Skin shaving cream is the only way to do it! I do not remember the last time I cut myself while shaving, and neither of them are very expensive! But my shower caddy does not contain all of my favorite products, my two current favorites are this Nivea chapstick with shimmer and the Burts Bees facial wipes. I have turned both of these into favorites for many of my friends because of their natural qualities and cost effectiveness.Screen Shot 2014-03-25 at 7.29.25 AM

My two most important tips for beauty are plenty of rest and hydration. As cliché as it sounds, and I am sure your parents told you this relentlessly, it is the most effective and easiest way to stay healthy. It not only improves your mood, but it keeps your skin as healthy as it will ever be!
